Good Bye to Spring Flowers

What can we do but keep on breathing in and out, modest and willing, and in our places? ~Mary Oliver

 Spring is such a lovely time of year in my spot on our small blue planet. We aren’t into summer yet tho our days are warming. The early spring wildflowers have passed and already the fields are alive with California poppies, lupine, pea, buttercups and others too numerous to remember their names! {If I knew them…}

  This lovely native California Lilac is stunning.
There’s so many varieties now available and yet, I’ve planted several and end up with a few more differences than I expected.
They are rather unpredictable.

As is that wild pink rose so delicately tough!

 The gorgeous callas will await another spring with only long slender leaves marking where they bloomed so beautifully a few weeks ago.

Wisteria amidst the Trees and Grasses in Spring

The wisteria is one that likes plentiful water, something we didn’t actually realize until this spring.
Having let an old dripping faucet run dry {a broken pipe to blame} our normally gorgeous giant is about half her usual stature but still covered in those lovely deep purple flowers.

Another shot of lilacs with that sweet little wild pink rose that popped in one year and has grown beautifully and without effort ever since.

 Truthfully we have rosemary blooming sporadically throughout the winter as well as during this time of year.

The jasmine, in particular this pink one, has a sensuous, short  season. When it is in bloom, the fragrance is intoxicating. I wish I could bottle it as it scents each evening and early morning.

Spring ground covers, one a lovely rose~shaded alyssum and two types of lobelias, a true perennial ground cover, tough as ticks and a trailing blue essential for my pots.

And coming up sweetly and as pretty as always….
